Mental Health & Liftworks
Today is World Mental Health day, and awareness needs to be raised for everybody in the lift industry to keep everybody safe and in the right frame of mind.
Many things can affect a person’s mental state, including alcohol or drug problems, anxiety, debt or financial worries and stress, to name a few.
Everybody goes through tough times, and people help us get through them. You may be worried about someone in your life, a family member, a colleague or a friend. If you know someone who is struggling with their Mental Health, there are ways you can support them.
How do I know if someone is suffering from mental health issues?
It’s not always apparent, as people deal with things differently, so be sensitive when speaking to someone you suspect is suffering.
At Liftworks, we take these issues seriously and have a dedicated support line for our employees and their immediate family to allow confidential calls if anybody is struggling with anything in their life.
Liftworks have also joined the Lift Industry Mental Health Charter along with several other companies to raise awareness and implement well-being and mental health risk assessments for our employees to make our working environment the best it can be. More information can be found here.
There are several ways to improve your mental health that you can implement daily. Simple things like trying to get more sleep, taking a walk and seeing some nature or talking to someone if you have something on your mind can all help a person’s state of mind. Some things will be easier to do for certain people than others, and it’s a case of finding what works best for you. More info on this can be found on the mental health website.
