An interesting replacement!

An exciting project in a high-end residential building in London.

Once powered by water inside the existing stairwell, an inverted hydraulic ram was removed and a new bespoke structure was fitted inside the old one due to no fixing points for the new equipment and to gain the required clear opening.  A gearless traction lift was provided as the replacement.

Due to the layout of the pit, the roping arrangement was 1:1 for the lift car and 2:1 for the counterweight. Reduced headroom and pit depth added to the complexity of the project.  These obstacles were overcome, and the latest technology was fitted for running the new system. Brass entrances on landings and a bespoke lift car finished the theme and the lift was handed over to the client.

All in all a very challenging but interesting project.
